About PLAN: Friends for life
Main

Relationships are at the heart of everything PLAN does. Our corporate and foundation partnerships are based on common goals, vision and strong relationships. They are truly friends.

Many of our friends have been long-time supporters that have long believed in the power of families to plan and live a good life with their relative with a disability.

Some of our friends are new, and are drawn to the vision of a society where all belong and where innovation is a tool in building the path there.

We acknowledge our friends, the people behind the big names, and are grateful they are walking this journey with us. Thank you.

RBC Royal Bank

In working to promote the RDSP, in became clear that a national bank would be key in further communications and ensuring that Canadians in all corners of Canada could open an account. RBC Royal Bank agreed to support this work and joined PLAN to raise awareness about the RDSP nationally. RBC Royal Bank is PLAN’s ‘Preferred National RDSP Provider’.

Vancity Credit Union

Vancity put their trust in us before we had a track record. Vancity funded the first Safe & Secure, sponsored estate planning workshops for families and has managed smaller trusts for PLAN families. More recently, PLAN and Vancity have an agreement to share profits from the business that PLAN families conduct at Vancity- providing a steady income stream to PLAN. In 2008, Vancity was made an honorary Lifetime Member of PLAN.

Ability Tax Group

Ability Tax Group (ATG) and PLAN have partnered to raise awareness and assist as many as possible to open RDSP accounts. ATG is PLAN's preferred Disability Tax Credit specialist and is a regular contributor to PLAN's annual Navigating Your Tax Return and ezines.

Davis LLP

Davis LLP was one of our first corporate partners. They have been instrumental in presenting Will & Estate workshops, establishing future planning schola rships for younger families, writing an ‘In Trust’ booklet, and underwriting the annual Funds to Live By campaign.

London Drugs

The relationship with London Drugs began with a shared lin k on two websites and has grown into a BC-wide partnership to raise awareness of the RDSP. Not only has London Drugs used it’s distribution network to get free copies of Safe & Secure into the hands of families, it has provided communications support and hosted the Safe & Secure RDSP Contest.

The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation

The J.W. McConnell Family Foundation has assisted PLAN to be entrepreneurial and self sufficient, and one of the core funders in researching and campaigning for the RDSP. Currently, their support is crucial to the work to transform the ability of individuals, families and the disability sector to withstand changing economic circumstances and government commitment. J.W. McConnell Family Foundation became an honorary Lifetime Member in 2008.

The Law Foundation of BC

The Law Foundation of BC has supported numerous PLAN projects such as Safe & Secure, In Trust and our Will & Estate Planning seminars. Their most significant investment has been in the RDSP. A major grant from the foundation enabled us to do legal research, learn how Ottawa works and develop strategy. In 2008, PLAN made the Law Foundation of BC an honorary Lifetime Member.

St. Christopher’s School Society

St. Christopher’s School Society has been a consistent financial supporter for many years. In 1996, 25 Future Planning scholarships were made available to assist families to create comprehensive future plans for their loved one. They have also been long-time supporters of the Warm Bear program which reaches out to younger families. Recently the Society dissolved and designated PLAN as a beneficiary of the annual income from the St. Christopher’s School Society Fund- the relationship has evolved into a lasting legacy.
